Happy Mother's Day!

I often wonder how moms can ever find the energy to do all the things they need to in a day? I used to work with children for 8 hours a day and I was always ready to go home at the end of the day. However, when your a mom you don't have that option...you are on call 24/7! So keeping this in mind make sure you do something special for your mom this weekend. It doesn't have to cost a lot or be really fancy, just being there, helping out and letting your mom know what she means to you will be really special.

A few years ago after my sister and I had moved out of my parent's house, we decided that doing something special with mom on Mother's day and dad on Father's Day would mean more than just buying them a gift. So every year we take a day and do something special together...sometimes it costs money and other times we do simple things that are heartfelt AND cost effective! This year my sister and I are going out to my parents place to do yard work, do their grocery shopping and maybe even clean the house a little. My mom has been so busy with sick parents (her mom and dad) that I thought little things like this would mean the most to her.

So enough about my plans for this weekend! I have some cards to share with you in honor of Mother's Day.

I used the Madeline Collection from Prima for these two cards. I just love this paper line with it's bright colors, flowers and butterflies. The turquoise and hot pink combo is especially nice! On the first card I cut my extra pieces of the paper into strips and punched them with an EK Success border punch. I crinkled and dyed white seam binding for the ribbon and Glimmer Misted the mulberry paper flowers (which are from I Am Roses). The lock is from Kaisercraft (using up my leftovers from the design team submission) and I used the Spellbinder's Grommet Tags die for the sentiment. The stamps are from Close to my Heart (a retired May Word Puzzle set) and the ink is Close to my Heart's Cotton Candy and Chocolate dye ink.

For the second card I used a swirl frame shape from the Cindy Loo Cricut cartridge which I cut on Chocolate cardstock. Then I backed this shape (seen in the picture above) with Scor-Tape, adhered it to another sheet of cardstock and then covered the adhesive that was showing with Ice Blue Jewel Glitter Ritz. I colored the seam binding with Glimmer Mist, the blue flower with Distress reinker/Perfect Pearl mixture and the green flowers I painted with the new Sour Apple Perfect Pearls. Then I added the Teresa Collins Blingage stick pin, a rhinestone on the bow and then I stamped Happy Mother's Day on the little tag.  The stamps were a mixture of the same CTMH set that I used on the other card and the Tag Lines set from Flourishes.

I hope you enjoyed these cards and now feel motivated to go create something special for your mom. Have a wonderful weekend and thanks for stopping by!
Chelsey
