Playing along with Tim Holtz 12 Tags of Christmas

This year is my fist time playing along with Tim Holtz's 12 Tags of Christmas and I'm having a blast!! I may not have all the dies, inks, etc. that he's using, but I'm having fun coming up with other ideas. Every morning I wake up and I race to the computer to see what wonderful creation Tim has posted during the night. It's like Christmas morning every morning for 12 days!!
If you want to follow along with Tim's tags go to http://www.timholtz.typepad.com/http: and see his wonderful creations. There are also links on the left side of the screen to see his tags from past years.
So I hope you will enjoy the creative journey with me and be inspired to pull out some of your supplies and create something beautiful this Christmas!

Day One Tag:

So for this tag I didn't have any of the dies Tim used so what I ended up doing was using my new Art Philosophy cartridge from Close to my Heart to cut the pine cones (which was actually a rolled flower, but looks a lot like Tim's die), the holly and other leaves. Then I used some tissue tape on white cardstock to make the banner instead of the tattered banner die and for the Noel I used some Grunge board letters and a flourish cut from Tim's mover's and shaper's die. I also didn't have the same glitter so I used some of the new Silver Crushed Glass Glitter from Stampendous. I was quite happy with the results! If you want full directions for the tag visit Tim's Blog.

Day Two Tag:
For this tag I substituted Tim's Christmas kraft paper for some of his regular kraft paper which I embossed some snowflakes and Merry Christmas on with clear embossing powder. I also don't have the deer die, but I had a cut from the die (my friend has it so I had one cut from cardstock) so I covered the cardstock one with sticky back canvas and trimmed it out with my scissors. My canvas was white and not natural colored so I inked it with Antique Linen Distress Stain. The bow is done with seam binding and Evergreen Bough ink and the border at the bottom is an EKSuccess punch.
I loved how it turned out and I especially like the effect of Picket Fence Distress Stain on kraft paper. I don't really like kraft paper, so this may be my new favorite technique to use one it!

I am working on the next two tags right now and will post those when I am finished!
Merry Christmas and happy crafting!

Chelsey
