Paper Piecing Stamped Images

Hello everyone and happy Saturday! I wanted to show you a card I made recently using my new La-La Land Crafts stamp. Her name is Marci and isn't she just adorable? I decided to paper piece her because the design is fairly open and it is so much quicker than coloring the whole image with Copic markers.  I really enjoy combining the look of a colored image with the interest of patterned paper. I hope you try out this technique!

How to:
To paper piece the design all I did was stamp the image several times on different patterned papers and once on white Copic paper using Momento Black ink.  I stamped Marci once on the brown patterned paper and then again on the striped paper. Then using fine tip scissors I trimmed around her dress and hair, making sure to cut on the outer edge of the line. Keep in mind if you cut inside the lines or right on the lines the design doesn't look as complete. Next I colored the skin, shoes and bow with my Copic markers. To adhere the hair and dress I put the pieces through my Xyron Sticker Maker (this is a must have tool if you enjoy paper piecing!) and then I applied them to the colored image. To finish it off I trimmed around the whole image and used foam pop dots to adhere her to the card.

What I used:
Background stamp: Classic Fabric Design from Hero Arts, patterned paper: Gabrielle Collection from BoBunny, cardstock: Bazzill, sentiment stamp: Card Chatter-Sympathy by Close to my Heart, ink: Sorbet and Lagoon dye ink by Close to my Heart, ribbon: American Crafts, Pearls: Kaiser Craft, Copic Markers: E0000, E00, E01, R83, BG45 and BG49.

New Products to Try

I was so excited today when my package of product finally arrived from Lindy's Stamp Gang! I have never ordered from this company before, but I've heard lots of wonderful things about the products. So my first purchase consisted of two sets of Magical Mica powders which are somewhat similar to Perfect Pearls (which I LOVE).

The sets I ordered were Victorian Bouquets (Canna Lily Burnt Orange, Hydrangea Blue, Ramblin' Rose Pink, Sweet Violet Purple Teal, Lucky Shamrock Green) and the Icicle Creek set (Frosted Forget Me Nots, Alpine Rose, Icy Primrose Gold, Mountain Lavendar Gold and Edelweiss Moss Green). As a special gift they also sent me a bottle of Starburst Stain in Red Hot Poker Orange. I have only played around with these products a little...but I'm already addicted! I really love the vibrant colors and as you can see by the tops of the jars when you add water to the dry powder the resulting color is spectacular. I painted the jar tops with the Magical Micas so I have a reference when I'm working on projects. If you haven't visited the Lindy's Stamp Gang site or YouTube channel check out these links:http://www.lindystampgang.com/ and http://www.youtube.com/user/lindysgang
I will be posting some projects with the Magical Micas sometime very soon!

Have a wonderful day and Happy Scrapping!

Happy Easter!

I hope everyone is enjoying a wonderful Easter weekend with your families. Here are some cards that I created using Close to my Heart papers, stamps, ribbon and buttons. I stamped the bunny images on Flourishes Copic paper and then I colored them using my Copic markers and added some Stickles to make them shine. Enjoy :-)
