Home Decor Class

Well I've been thinking about and planning this class for a while and I finally got around making a sample! So exciting! I first was inspired by a pain wood frame that I found at my local thrift store. Then I started thinking about all the cool colors and mediums I could incorporate into this project. Then to my surprise I saw a version of what I'd been creating in my mind in the April edition of Scrapooks etc. magazine (check out this fabulous piece of art on page 44 by artist Jess Mutty).

I am pleased to show you my next class at my home studio....Just For You Wall Art!
Class Date: Sunday, April 29th 1-5pm (just in time for Mother's Day)
Cost: $30

If I have enough interest I will consider doing this class on a week night as well.

One of the great parts of this class is that we are creating the whole thing ourselves and I will have all my different colors of paint, ink, mists, etc there for you to use. You can create your frame exactly how you like it with whatever theme you want. It is totally up to you! I created mine with Mother's Day in mind, but you don't have to.

I hope you enjoyed this look at my new class :-) Please leave me a comment and let me know what you think or if you have any questions about what products I used.

Messy Desk Friday

Happy Friday!!
I've been busy working away at making new classes for the past couple of days and I was photographing my processes for the class instructions when I looked over (looking through the camera) and realized how beautiful the mess on my desk looked! It drives me crazy having a messy desk, but when I'm in the middle of the creative process a messy desk is inevitable.

The colors I'm using in this project are my favorite combo (blue & purple) plus some green and yellow for added color. I seem to go through times when certain colors just make me happy and I use them everywhere possible!

My favorite mists...Lindy's Stamp Gang! They are just so full of glimmer and the colors are amazing. Maybe one day I will own all 85-90 colors!!

Here is a sneak peak of the new class I'm working on. I will be teaching it at my home studio near the end of April in time for Mother's Day.

I'll post some finished pictures next week...or maybe over the weekend if I get around to it.
TGIF :-)

A Vintage Curiosity Class

Well it's that time again...I have some new classes to show you!
When I saw Graphic 45's Olde Curiosity Shoppe collection at CHA this past January, I fell in love the amazing designs and of course all the beautiful butterflies! With all the unique images there is just so many options! I'm also working on a large shadow box class with this paper line for Scribbles & Giggles.

This class will be at Scrapbooker's Paradise in Red Deer, AB June 14 6-8pm. I can hardly wait to show you how to use this amazing paper and some great accessories to create these cards!

The inside of this card has several pop ups that are all different lengths to create some great dimension!
I had so much fun making this card and deciding what kind of scene I would make on the inside. There are so many combinations you could use and it's a very different type of canvas to create on.

For this card I had a blast using some of the Frantage line from Stampendous. The Mica fragments and aged embossing powders work beautifully with this classic paper. I love the framed butterflies and the pop of colour they bring to the more neutral papers.

And speaking of butterflies...

I just can't get enough of all the wonderful butterfly images out there! As you will see in my other classes (coming this week to the blog) there are many companies using butterflies in their paper and stamp lines and I just can't help myself! I use them whenever possible... doing my best to enjoy this trend while it lasts.

I hope you enjoyed this look at my new class,

March Tag

Like many of you I am a HUGE Tim Holtz fan so when Tim said he was changing from doing the 12 Tags of Christmas to doing a new tag every month, I was both sad and excited for the change.
Well I want to play along and now that it's only one tag a month it's a lot easier to do so. This is my version of Tim's tag with a few twists...

I changed my tag up a bit by using a manilla tag, glitter instead of embossing powder and Perfect Pearl mist instead of the Heirloom Gold.  For paper I used some My Mind's Eye papers and the metal flowers I covered with a variety of different embossing powders.
I hope you enjoyed my version of Tim's tag.

Greeting Farm Cards

Happy Friday!
I don't know where all the time goes...but before I know it another week has come and gone. Today I want to share with you a couple of cards I created recently with some of The Greeting Farm stamps I picked up at CHA. I've been wanting to try some of these stamps for a good long while and of course now that I have, I love them!
I've also been wanting to practice my Copic coloring...why buy expensive artist markers and then never use them? So it's my goal to incorporate more coloring into my artwork.  Sometime this year I would really like to get my Copic Certification so I can start teaching classes. There is just no other look as crisp and beautiful for coloring images and I just love the bold colors!

For the first card I used Kaisercraft Chapter One 6x6 paper (this is one of my all time favorite collections), Kaisercraft Magic Happens paper, some twine from Close to my Heart and the Flutter Anya stamp from The Greeting Farm. The background (behind Anya) was sponged with Sky Close to my Heart ink and a Crafter's Workshop cloud template. The following list are the Copics I used (I forgot to write them down, so I think this is right...).
Skin: E00, E01, E11, R12
Hair: Y21, YR23, YR24
Dress: BV02, BV04, R81, R83
Winges: B02, B05, YG13, YG17
Stardust Gel Pen
White Gel Pen

For the second card I used some old Close to my Heart paper (sorry I don't know what collection) and a piece of water color paper (behind the image) which I misted with Party Pink Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist and Witch's Potion Purple Starburst Spray from Lindy's Stamp Gang. Then I stamped some images from the Star Power stamp set from CTMH.  I'm not sure where the black ribbon came from but the other ribbon I sprayed with the same two colors of mist is some white seam binding. The sparkly brad on the bow is also from CTMH. The image is Tuesday from The Greeting Farm. I love her attitude!
The Copics I used on this image are:
Skin: E000, E00, E01
Hair: N4, N6, N8, N10, RV04, RV09
Dress and eyes: B63, B66
Shoes: Same colors as the hair I just used fewer of the grey markers.
Gold and Starry Night Stickles

I had a blast creating these cards and I hope you enjoyed them too! Please leave me a comment and have a great Friday!
