Coming Soon...

I know I've been MIA for a little while...but I have a good reason! I'm working on a whole bunch of new classes for this fall. Everything from gift ideas, tags, cards, mixed media and home decor. There are going to be some really fun classes and I can't wait to show them all to you! Here is a little sneak peak at what I've been up to...

I will have more details posted later this week! I am also running a couple of classes at Something to Scrap About and you can check those out here. I will be teaching the Summer Memories Mini Album except with a pink theme and I will be teaching the Walk in the Park card class. I hope you can join me and stay tuned for more details on fall classes later in the week!

Happy Monday,

Chelsey

Dare to Dream Mixed Media Canvas

Recently I decided something had to be done with the walls in my studio. They are a plain beige color and not very inspiring. So I thought about painting them, but that would require taking time away from creating and teaching classes plus it would be a lot of work! My other option was to cover those very blah walls with art. Well that is the option I chose and ever since I've be making mixed media canvases to hang on the walls.

When I received a request from one of my students to create another canvas class, I was excited by the possibility of having yet another piece to add to my walls. This mixed media canvas is loaded with techniques including image transfer, collaging, painting, glittering, misting and glazing. The freedom to do whatever and use any supplies you want is what makes mixed media so addicting for me!

Look at all that awesome texture!
I still use craft paints for most of my work, especially for classes to keep the cost down, but I am intrigued by the brilliant colors you can get with Golden paints and other artist quality paints, so I may have to do some investing in those! If you have any questions about what I used just leave me a comment below.

Disneyland Memory File

I am thrilled to show you one of my latest creations because it combines three of my all time favorite things... Heidi Swapp Color Magic Memory Files, rainbow colors and Disney! This file is jam packed with color, pattern and excitement. I wanted to document a short trip I made to Disneyland this winter with a good friend while we were in town for Winter CHA. A Memory File is the perfect way to do this since it's so interactive and you can fit so many pictures in such a small area.

To color the outside of the file I used my Faber-Castell Mix & Match Gelatos which are like chapstick containers full of wonderful pigments. I scribbled them onto the outside of the file and then used some water and my fingers to blend them all together. I cannot tell you enough how much I LOVE the vibrant colors!

One of the best parts about Memory Files is that everything is contained in one place and it is totally interactive! I really enjoy making things with flaps and pockets, but sometimes when I do this in mini albums they get damaged way too easily. So having everything contained inside the file which I can then place into the file box, just makes me happy!

For the papers I used a combination of Heidi Swapp Sugar Chic, Color Magic and cardstock on the inside of the file. I also used the Color Magic Banners, seam binding, twine, tissue tape, Smash tape, Color Magic letter stickers, spring and summer seasonal Distress Inks and stamps to complete the file.
