I love playing with new products but I also love trying to figure out new ways to use products I already own. These cards are for a class I'm teaching in Red Deer called Faux Metal Techniques.
Craft foil and similar products can be expensive and sometimes difficult to work with, so I wanted to see what other ways we could achieve that beautiful metal look without all the fuss. Here are the cards I came up with:
I had so much fun playing with all these techniques and trying to achieve different effects. I love the distressed metal look especially on altered art or masculine projects. Okay, I just enjoy techniques no matter what their theme or purpose!! The rusted metal on the hinges and lock in the card above really was so much fun to create though. There are so many possibilities too with color combinations and different types of metal to mimic. I only did this on cardstock, but you could also use chipboard or grungeboard to get some dimension and have it look even more realistic.
I hope you enjoyed and thanks for stopping by,
