Artful Cards

Happy Thursday!

Lately I've been captivated by the look of bright colors on white backgrounds as well as the drips and splatters of watercolor. Every winter it seems like I can't get enough of vibrant colors and rainbows!

These cards below are part of a 7 card class I am teaching in Red Deer on Tuesday, January 28, 2014. They are bright, textured and interesting pieces that will involve many products and techniques.

I used some stencils, stamps, gel medium, Gelatos, Distress Paints, Color Shine mists, Distress Stains and more to achieve some different effects.

All the splatters and drips make these cards very interesting and blend the world of mixed media with card making. I always want to get tons of use out of my supplies so being able to move from creating cards to scrapbook pages to mixed media pieces is very exciting!

New Video Series

Happy Monday Crafters!

I hope everyone had a very creative weekend. Over the holidays I decided my goal for 2014 would be to grow my personal art practice. For me that means taking time daily to play in my art journal, experiment with new mediums and new techniques. It is so easy to get caught up in the hectic pace of life and lose sight of the passion that motivates me to be a creative person.

So I decided to also share this journey with all of you and do some YouTube videos again, this time sharing techniques, mediums and overall creative play. I plan to record and share a short video every Friday I really hope to keep up with this all year!

Here is the video I recorded this past Friday. If you don't subscribe to my YouTube channel already, please feel free to hop over there and subscribe so you don't miss out on any future videos.

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year to all my crafty friends! I hope your holidays were filled with joy and good memories. I had wonderful and low key Christmas, celebrating with my family, including my 6 week old niece. My husband and I took some time to just relax and enjoy the little things like Christmas lights and walks in the woods. I love this type of holiday although now that its time to get back into the fast pace of creating and classes, I find myself way too chill!

2014 is here and it's time to get busy with my planning and goals for this year...I have a lot of ideas and never enough hours in the day! I plan to expand my online offerings this year getting back to more regular blog posts, youtube videos and even an online class or two! This is the year that things are going to HAPPEN online for me! I have all I have to do is stick with it and implement them!
As a kick off to the year I love participating in Nathalie Kalbach's Creative Jumpstart online class. If you want to check it out for yourself click here. It's a great way to get all those creative juices flowing.
Also, in case you are wondering the graphic at the top of this post was creating using my new favourite picture app called Rhonna Designs. I have to say I'm in LOVE with this app since you can alter not only your photos (using tons of cute designs and lettering options), but you can also create little cards like the one above. I want to design some of these and then print them out at 4x6 or 3x4 to use in divided page protectors. Perhaps one of the coolest freatures of this app is you can create Chalkboard art!! That looks perfect by the way and not all messed up like my attempts to create it by hand do! Okay I know I'm raving by you have to check this out in the App Store. I don't know if there is a version for Android or not since I have an iphone.

New classes and events will be appearing under the classes tab and on Facebook very soon. Stay tuned!
