One of the most important parts of scrapbooking which we often forget to invest money in is the actual book that holds our memories! I've purchased a variety of albums over the years including strap bound, D-ring and post bound. The best album for you will really depend on what your preference is and what kinds of pages you're creating.
If you like to make traditional 2 page layouts, especially those with some dimension, you will probably prefer the post bound system.
If you like to create a variety of layouts including pocket page, one page 12x12 layouts or even layouts in various sizes, a D-ring album will probably suit you better. These are also good if you tend to move pages around a lot.
The Close to my Heart albums are excellent quality and my current favourite albums...and I'm not just saying that because I sell them! They are really sturdy, durable and the improved post system really makes me happy! The covers are made of MDF board not just cardboard and the material is a coated canvas that can be wiped off. Also, the flaps inside that cover the posts are magnetic so they lay nice and flat and the posts themselves are very easy to open - no extra tools required! The little ring pops up and you can easily unscrew them.
My favourite style of album is the post bound because I still mostly create 2 page traditional layouts. I don't really like a large gap between the two pages that is created in a D-ring album by having the rings in the middle. I do have some D-ring albums and typically I use these for holidays or other events where I know I will be using more pocket pages.
In the video below I show you how to assemble a post bound album. It's super easy!
